Fun & Friends Social Club: Building Confidence, Connection and Community

At Sandybeach Centre, the Fun & Friends Social Club is much more than a weekly activity program. It is a welcoming and inclusive community where participants can build confidence, develop friendships and enjoy new experiences together.

The group provides a safe and supportive environment where every member is valued, respected and encouraged to participate. Through shared activities, conversations and outings, participants have the opportunity to strengthen communication skills, build self-belief and become more actively involved in their local community.

One of the highlights of the program is our regular outings to local cafés. Whether it's a short walk into Sandringham Village for morning tea or a special brunch adventure further afield, these excursions provide valuable opportunities for social connection and community engagement.

Recently, the group has expanded its horizons by exploring cafés across Bayside as part of our self-proclaimed "Sandybeach Happy Brunch Club Reviewers". Each week participants visit a different venue, sampling a variety of menu items and sharing their thoughts on the food, service and overall experience. Sometimes dishes are shared to create an even more enjoyable tasting experience.

These outings are about much more than food. Participants interact with café staff, engage with local businesses and take part in meaningful discussions about their experiences. Following each visit, the group gathers to reflect and complete individual café reviews, ensuring that every voice is heard and every opinion is valued.

At the heart of the Fun & Friends Social Club is a simple but powerful philosophy: empowering individuals to enjoy everyday experiences with confidence. The program encourages participants to express themselves, develop independence, build meaningful connections and actively engage with the world around them.
