Bright Sparks draws on the principles of Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST), an evidence-based approach designed to stimulate thinking, memory and communication through enjoyable activities and social interaction.

CST has been widely researched for people living with mild to moderate dementia, with evidence showing benefits for cognition, quality of life and wellbeing.

Sandybeach Centre staff have undertaken specialised CST training, with Bright Sparks bringing these principles into a friendly, community-based program.

Importantly, Bright Sparks is not just for people living with dementia. It is also suitable for older adults who want to keep their minds active, maintain social connections and support their brain health and overall wellbeing.

Participants may also choose to stay at Sandybeach Centre for afternoon programs, providing further opportunities for social connection and extended respite for carers.
