Celebrating Our Volunteers: Spotlight on Gayle Miller

National Volunteer Week is a time for us to express gratitude to our volunteers who generously dedicate their time to Sandybeach Centre. From our Board members to our administrative staff, program coordinators, and bus support team, your contributions are invaluable.

If you visit the Centre on a Thursday, you'll receive a warm welcome from Gayle Miller at reception. Gayle has been volunteering with Sandybeach Centre since 2020, providing vital support to our administrative team.

Gail was kind enough to share her experience with us.

What drew you to our Sandybeach Centre?

I was searching for a local volunteer opportunity, and having been a participant here before, it felt like the perfect fit.

What is your role and what does it involve?

I handle reception duties, greeting visitors and answering phones. I also assist with some database tasks and anything else that's needed on the day.

In your opinion, what is the most important work that this organisation does?

Sandybeach Centre offers a variety of excellent programs in many areas. Seeing how happy everyone is to participate is truly rewarding.

What's the best part about volunteering?

The people.

Do you have any special memory or moment that stands out in your time at Sandybeach Centre?

While there isn't one particular moment, I always leave feeling fulfilled after a day of volunteering.

What would you say to anyone considering becoming a volunteer?

Give it a go!  Volunteering is very rewarding, especially if you find the right place.
