REACH VOLUNTEER DRIVERS

The REACH Program caters for older people in the community with a variety of programs,classes and activities.  Some clients require individual transport arrangements.  For this purpose,we have a team of dedicated drivers who use their own vehicle to transport someone from their home to Sandybeach and then back home at the end of the relative activity.  We currently have an urgent need for a volunteer driver. This very rewarding role is suitable for someone who enjoys the company of older people and has an understanding of their needs.  Induction and training by Sandybeach Centre staff is provided.  Please Note:  Some conditions apply &partial reimbursement of petrol expenses is available.  The program in question is:

• Respite Music Murrumbeena – Thursday afternoons.   A music activity program providing respite for carers in the City of Glen Eira.

Please note that the times given include transport time.  Actual program time is is less.

REACH VOLUNTEER BUS JOCKEY

REACH clients are transported to and from their programs in the centre’s mini bus.   We currently have a need for a volunteer in a varied and hands on role.  The volunteer would be required to act as a“bus jockey” assisting the driver with client pick ups and drop offs as well as assisting during the program. This very rewarding role is suitable for someone who enjoys the company of older people and has an understanding of their needs.  Induction and training by Sandybeach Centre staff is provided. Police check and referee checks would be conducted. The program in question is:

• Respite Music Murrumbeena –Thursdays  12.30 to 5 pm.  Held at an off-site venue in Murrumbeena.
• Armchair Travel –Fridays 12.45 to 3.30 pm.  Held at Sandybeach Centre.

Community Support

The REACH/REACH Respite programs cater for the elderly in our community providing activities at Sandybeach and at off-site locations. Participants may require transport as well as one-on-one support during their activity. Exercises,Music,Life Stories,Armchair Travel all rely on volunteer involvement. Partial reimbursement of petrol expenses for volunteers who use their own vehicles is available.

Adult Education

Volunteers assist tutors in the Disability Program,  working with students in areas such as literacy,numeracy,health &wellbeing,cooking and gardening.

Childcare and Early Learning Centre

As a Class 2 Registered Child Care and Early Learning Centre,we offer mornings only child care each weekday, in addition to a school holiday program. Volunteers with experience or a current enrolment in a recognised Early Childhood Education Course are ideally suited to this role.

Administration

Volunteers assist in our reception and administration offices. They perform a wide range of administrative tasks as well as provide assistance for the Centre’s managers and program co-ordinators.
