Certificate III in Aged Care – CHC30208

Are you someone who likes working with people and having the satisfaction of a job that makes a difference? Certificate III in Aged Care is a nationally recognised qualification in aged care, a field where there are constant employment opportunities. The course provides training for personal care workers who work as part of a nursing care team in residential facilities such as hostels and nursing homes. The course contains 13 units which cover the skills and knowledge required for aged care workers who provide personal care to older people and assist them with activities of daily living. The program combines theoretical studies and student directed projects with practical experience in aged care facilities. Participants attend classes on Mondays and Wednesdays and undertake field placements.

Those undertaking this course require an interest and aptitude for working in the aged care field and good basic communication and literacy skills. A current national police check is required for field placement. An application must be completed prior to commencement of the course.  Fee includes materials, assessments and fee for police check.  Government funded (B).  No classes public holidays or during school holidays.

The course will enable participants to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes required to perform competently the role of a skilled trainer in the VET sector and in the workplace. The course uses competency-based training methods. Students will learn how to unpack a Training Package and adapt units of competency to meet a client’s need. Participants will investigate the principles of adult learning, the context of workplace training, preparing training programs, learning resources, preparing and delivering sessions, and planning, conducting and reviewing assessment. Community Information Work
Assess and Provide Services for Clients with Complex Needs – CHCCS416A

This is a 50 hour nationally recognised unit of competency required by people wishing to work as volunteers interviewing in a Community Information Centre (CIC). The course involves 36 hours of face-to-face classroom delivery combined with 14 hours of volunteering within a CIC. As a community information worker you may be required to interview clients requiring assistance or emergency relief, advocate on behalf of clients where appropriate, source information required by a client and provide practical assistance with negotiating, filling out forms and making appointments for other services. On successful completion of the course, students will be issued with a Statement of Attainment.

A pre-requisite for this course is a successful completion of  SITXOHS002A (or THHGHS01B) Follow workplace hygiene procedures. Students can enrol in this unit prior to commencing the Sandwich Making course (see Food Handlers course above).
This course will give you the skills, knowledge and confidence that you need to apply for the many positions available as Sandwich Hands. The course will teach you to prepare a variety of sandwiches using different combinations of ingredients, the appropriate breads or wraps and how to handle these to achieve a professional product. You will also learn how to present items for service, including a variety of garnishing and plating techniques. The course also includes cleaning and sanitising of kitchen and equipment areas as per the standards required under the Victorian Food Safety Act of 1984 (amended in 2001 to incorporate Food Safety Plans). A good understanding of written and spoken English is required. Food Safety Supervisor – Implement Food Safety Procedures SITXFSA001A

This is a unit of a nationally recognised training course. This course will give you the information and competencies to identify potential hazards in your hospitality workplace. You will be able to work with the Food Safety Plan, understand and complete the documents required in relation to food safety policies and procedures.
