Sandybeach Community Co-operative Society Limited trades as Sandybeach Centre and is owned and managed by the community under the stewardship of a seven-member Board of Directors, all of whom are volunteers. The Directors are responsible for board portfolios: business viability, finance, governance, human resources, legal matters, risk management and board administration. Sandybeach Centre is a not-for-profit entity with community shareholders. No dividends are paid to shareholders.

Margaret Fitzherbert, Chair
B.A. (Hons) (Monash Univ.), Grad. Dip. Labour Relations Law (Univ. Melb.), M.A. (Communication) (RMIT Univ.)
Margaret has worked as an industrial relations advocate, a ministerial adviser and as a communications specialist. Margaret has published widely on women and politics. Her first book, Liberal Women Federation to 1949, was published in 2004 and was shortlisted for a NSW Premier’s History Award. She joined the Board in May 2003 and chairs the Fundraising Committee.
Dr Joanne Wilkinson
R.N., Ph.D. (RMIT Univ.), M.Sc. (Univ. Rochester, NY), B.Health Admin. (UNSW), Dip.Ed. (College of Nursing Aust.), Dip. Public Health (Univ. Toronto), Certified Health Executive (Aust. College of Health Service Executives), Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training (Sandybeach Centre).
Joanne’s wide professional experience includes senior positions in health and education – from Director of Nursing of a large multi-level aged care facility to Professor and Foundation Head of the School of Nursing at Deakin University (Burwood). Her financial and personnel management skills and innovation in the design of organisational processes and continuing professional education have contributed to her professional reputation and earned her a number of awards. She has also received awards for voluntary work. Orginally from Canada, Joanne has lived in Australia for more than 35 years and is an Australian citizen. She joined the Board in September 2002 and chairs the Human Resources Committee.
Alan Copsey LLB
(Monash Univ.)
Alan Copsey joined the Board in November 2006. He is a Special Counsel with Russell Kennedy, Solictors, in a business development role within the finance and banking sector. Alan spent 27 years with the National Australia Bank and was Head of Australian Bank Legal prior to retiring to take on consultancies with the bank and other organisations. His career at the National spanned many areas of banking and included responsibilities as the corporate lawyer for retail banking, the manager of Corporate Advisory Services, Head of Victorian Legal Services and a secondment to the United Kingdom to work with London-based merchant banks.
Raymond Kirkwood
B.Ed., M.A.,(Ed), Grad. Dip. Anthrop.(Melbourne Univ.)
Ray was appointed to the Board in 2004 and is responsible for the marketing portfolio. In 1976, he completed a Bachelor of Education, specialising in Exercise Physiology and continued higher education with a Masters of Educational Studies. In his masters, Ray concentrated on curriculum innovation. He has recently completed a Graduate Diploma in Anthropology at Melbourne University.
During his career Ray taught physical education and moved into educational administration in 1980 at the central and regional levels of the Department of Education. In 1990 he bought Sandringham Travel and moved from Bendigo to Sandringham.
He has been a member of the Rotary Club of Sandringham and the Sandringham Traders Association. In 2002 he sold the travel agency and has recently established a short term accommodation business called Melbourne Boutique Cottages.
David Perry
B.Com.(Hons), M.A., AICD, ASIA
David currently works with the investor and stakeholder relations and communications company, Value Enhancement Management Pty Ltd. His background includes experience in all segments of the investment markets. David has held management and director roles in stockbroking, investment banking and banking, having worked for the Austock stockbroking group (founding director), ANZ McCaughan and the National Australia Bank. This also included a period of secondment with the Victorian Government. David was elected to the Board in March 2003. He chairs the Finance Committee and the Risk Management Committee.
Jeannette Rawlinson
BA (Deakin University)
Jeannette’s professional life has spanned the globe and the nation. Her strong administrative skills have been acquired working for stockbrokers in Brisbane, Newspapers in Fleet Street London, airlines in Melbourne and Brisbane, New Zealand High Commission in Canberra and Architects in Melbourne. Her current interests include involvement with the National Council of Women of Victoria, Fellowship of Australian Writers and Woodlands Golf Club. Jeanette also has numerous other volunteer positions as office bearer, team manager and fundraiser for various organizations. In her spare time her interests are art, music and architecture. Jeanette joined the Board early in 2006.
Deborah Harvey
Bachelor of Science (Curtin Univ, WA); Grad Cert in Management (Monash Uni, Vic); R.N.& Midwife (Vic);
Deborah has a strong background in Aged Care, working as a Manager of Community Aged Services. She has practised in the field of Community Nursing in Western Australia and Victoria in the local government areas of Kingston, Bayside and Greater Dandenong. She is involved in programs where she is responsible for policy development, strategic planning, marketing and promotion of services together with quality improvement and provision of advice to management.

Rosemary Sharman

Rosemary joined Sandybeach Centre as CEO in October 2003. Her career has spanned corporate communications, marketing and administration in the financial services and manufacturing sectors, with the Bank of Melbourne and Kodak. In her work with Kodak she was responsible for advertising and marketing communications across 13 countries. In 2004 Rosemary was honored in the Equity Trustees CEO Awards as a joint runner up in the First Year Achiever category.
